Darwin attends Riverside United Methodist Church. He was the past President of Muncie Noon Optimist and past Board member of the Muncie YMCA. He has participated in various fundraisers such as United Way, YMCA and Cardinal Varsity Club. He is currently a Board member for the American Red Cross -  Heartland Chapter.
